Community Update - July 15, 2020

Benjamin Logan School District
July 15, 2020

We know many of you have questions about what the 2020-21 school year will look like. We are working through the Reset and Restart Planning Guide from the Ohio Department of Education and the COVID-19 Health and Prevention Guidance for K-12 Schools from the Ohio Department of Health.
We are also collaborating with our local health officials and other area schools to finalize our plans for the fall. Please be patient as we navigate through several concerns and possibilities. We will communicate our plan to our staff, families and community as soon as possible.
It is our intent to ensure that Benjamin Logan students are both safe and successful as we prepare for the 2020-2021 school year. As we look ahead to a safe, smart restart for Benjamin Logan Schools this fall, I want to assure you that we will be ready and prepared to help teachers at our schools close gaps and make gains in the way that best meets the needs of our students and families.
We are considering many factors to ensure the health and safety of our students, educators and staff once our school buildings reopen. This includes measures for assessing student health, practicing physical distancing, sanitizing surfaces, exercising good hygiene, wearing masks and other components relevant to a student's daily journey—from stepping on the school bus, to learning in the classroom and eating in the cafeteria.
Our community can be assured that we are doing our best as we consider the needs of our students and staff as we continue these critical conversations. We look forward to seeing our students again when school starts on September 8.
Thank you for your support and patience.
Superintendent,
John Scheu
